Finally saw IT. I fucking hated this movie. The kids were great, and so was the look of the film, fantastic cinematography. But Pennywise was trash, a stupid and pitiful execution of what should have been a creature of nightmares. Instead I’m cringing every time he’s onscreen. He was NOT scary at all. And having him talk was a mistake, and what a fucking stupid voice to totally take me out of the movie every single time. The movie is a series of random horror vignettes that are not scary or interesting in the slightest, and the whole thing goes on just way too long. You’d think in a film like this the casting of the kids would be where they fuck up, but nope, they cast the right ones. Their chemistry was great, and Beverly and Ben from Soc and Bill with the stutter and all the others were so good that they are totally wasted on this useless antagonist. A horror story about a clown that feeds on fear and the clown does not scare me at all. Fuck that. It’s just so stupid seeing him run up to the screen, and talk for way longer than a horror clown should talk, and wtf was up with his dancing? AHHHHHHH WHY WERE PEOPLE HYPING THIS SHIT UP?!?! This movie sucks. I hope they get the sequel right. Just get rid of the fucking clown. Or redo everything about him, the only thing they got right was his look. Everything else is unbelievably wrong. And the editing was shockingly awful, cutting to random angels for zero continuity in a scene. It jarred the fuck out of me at times, just sloppy storyboarding. They should have just had the kids hanging out more together and not wasted our times with the weakest jump scares. And no, Pennywise standing behind a balloon is not even close to frightening. Come on, you’ve gotta get this stuff right in a movie like this. Otherwise, what’s the point? There isn’t one. It’s a pointless movie. I hope Chapter 2 can salvage this
